Whilst enjoying a lovely bottle of prosecco from local shop Cockburns of Leith (cockburnsofleigh1796) the Mums are chatting about World Book Day on March 5th and the launch of MATILIDA the Musical at the Edinburgh Playhouse Theatre.
Kicking things off, the Mums chat about World Book Day prep. Are you making costumes? Buying them? Find out what the Mums are doing to get ready for the dress up day at school - and maybe pick up some inspiration of your own if you need it (empty pizza boxes anyone?).
Next the Mums move on to chat about the fabulous Matilda the Musical running from March 4th to March 22nd at the Edinburgh Playhouse. The Mums talk about the History of Matilda... did you know that Matilda was originally a villain? Find out which of the storybook characters were based on real people, what how the original ending of this favourite of Roald Dahl's books differs from the final version, and where you can visit Matilda's library! Moving on, the Mums chat about how Matilda the Musical came about... did you know that Long before the Royal Shakespeare Company (RSC) ever knocked on his door, a young, unknown Tim Minchin was living in Perth, Australia, writing music for local theatre. Around 2000, he actually wrote to the Roald Dahl estate to ask for the rights to turn Matilda into a musical for a
small local production? He was turned down initially but didn't give up. Find out all about how Matilda evolved into this now favourite musical on the podcast!
Finally the Mums chat Book Week... find out all about which books the Mums love the most, which they can't stop reading, and why they love their books!
Join the Mums as they chat, laugh, and set the world to rights... and Cheers to World Book Day at Matilda the Musical!

Join Lissy, Heather, and guest star Kirstie of the Mum Club Edinburgh for a cozy wee chat about motherhood... the changes, the challenges, and the importance of having mum friends!
The Mums chat about how important it is to build a supportive circle of mum friends at all stages of life: from when you have an infant and can barely sleep, to when you have older kids and need help with the school pick up. Find out what Kirstie recommends to mums to get out and build that circle of support, and how we as mums can support one another on the tumultuous journey of motherhood. Do we as mums have an even greater opportunity for friendship connections then we did in our earlier years? Listen in to last week's Edinburgh Society of Unapologetically Imperfect Mothers for more discussion about the three pillars of friendship for further discussion!
Finally, do Mums have a right to complain once in a while (despite how bloody lucky we are to be mothers)? Kirstie, Lissy and Heather give a responding YES! Sometimes all it takes is a chat with another mum to brighten your day.

The Mums chat about attempting to be that "Perfect Friend".... Is there undue pressure to be perfect for Mums? Even in Friendship? Does the "squad goals" trope make real-world women feel lonely or "inadequate" because their friendships are scattered across different social circles rather than one tight-knit group?
Finally the Mums wrap with a chat about one very notable historic friendship... that of Jane Austen & Anne Sharp. Despite their massive dfference in social standing, they were eachother’s intellectual equals showing that true friendship often flourishes not because of social similarity, but because of mutual respect.
Join the Mums on this third installment of "Friendship February" as they laugh, chat and set the world to rights!

Thursday Feb 12, 2026
Join Kim, Lissy, Rebecca and Heather for another setting the world to rights chat on this second episode in what the Mums are calling "Friendship February". Firstly the Mums talk about the amazing experience Lissy and Heather had viewing FRIENDS! The Musical Parody at the Edinburgh Playhouse, before giving shout outs to the Mums Club of Edinburgh and the Loch Leven Brewery (where the Mums hope to soon organize a visit) before moving on to the main topic of the evening: Valentine's Day and of course... Galentine's Day!
Are there any rules to Galentine's Day? The Mums debate about Galentine's Day vs Valentine's Day... one heavy with expectations and performance, the other more of a low-pressure celebration of friendship. The Mums dive into the history of Galentine's Day to the way it is today.. complete with events, gifts, and brunch deals.
The Mums dive into the seemingly thousands of novels, TV series, and movies around the topic of female friendship.. and why they seem most of the time to miss or get wrong. Why is it that writers still often struggle to capture the nuance of how women actually bond? The Mums chat the "competition as default" fallacy for women, the myth of the "inseparable inner circle" and the "accessory" best friend and sidekick trope. What are female friendships really like vs. how they are portrayed? Listen in for a thoughtful discussion on this topic.
Wrapping up the Mums chat about the Winter Olympics. The drama, the tears, the wins and the losses.... the Mums are getting weepy watching!
Cheers to our friends... the few, the many, the ones that are close and the ones that are farther away!

long-held notion that a woman's value, desirability, and relevance peak in her
youth and decline after 40. There is a craze now, however to try to keep young.... forever?
The Mums chat "Tweakments", "Injectables", and all of the supplements we could be taking, as well as the pressure to always appear young... Just how far are the Mums willing to go? Find out on Episode 37.. the latest podcast by the Edinburgh Society of Unapologetically Imperfect Mothers!

The ladies are back, the kids are in school, and Anke, Tammy, Heather, Lissy, Rebecca are joined by new Edinburgh Society of Unapologetically Imperfect Mothers guest (and superfan) Liz on the 35th Episode of the podcast!
To start off, Lissy gives us a Rocky Horror Picture show at the Edinburgh Playhouse Thatre recap – the History, the costumes, the audience participation. Starring Jason Donovan of Australia’s Neighbours (he liked our post!) and Jackie Clune of Motherland, a complete review of the Rocky Horror Picture show is up on the Mums’ website.
From Lissy’s review: By the time the cast assembled for encore renditions of ‘Time Warp’ and ‘Sweet Transvestite’, the audience were on their feet; dancing and singing our hearts out, punch-drunk on the joy, nostalgia, and energy only truly incredible theatre can bring.
The Mums discuss future shows coming soon to Edinburgh including Matilda, an evening with Monty Don (of BBC’s Gardeners’ World), and some mysteries coming to the Edinburgh Festival Theater in March (Inspector Morse: House of Ghosts & Agatha Christie’s Death on the Nile).
In terms of January activities, Anke is trying to get out more and read, while Tammy watched the end of Stranger Things (no spoilers on this show are in the podcast!), while Tammy and Heather are trying to stick to the fruits and veggies to compliment the work they are putting in at F45. Do calories consumed with friends not count?
The ladies move on to discuss one of the greatest things to happen to British Television…. It’s the TRAITORS! Firstly, it’s set in Scotland in a giant castle...what’s not to love? The characters, the secrets, the setting, and the amazing, fabulous Claudia Winkleman… the ladies are talking Series 4. The Mums have some major wardrobe envy, some high praise for Claudia’s demeanour, and some ideas about possible future contestants (Lissy, Liz, Rebecca and Kim). The Edinburgh Society of Unapologetically Imperfect Mothers raves about this show!
Next up on the British Telly: Amanda and Alan's Greek Job starring wonderful Amanda Holden and national treasure Alan Carr. Sidenote: Lissy has had a chat with Alan Carr! The Mums are loving this adorable series which takes us to sunny Corfu where we get to know some wonderful people and see some beautiful scenery during cold and grey January.
Finally the Mums are chatting about getting ready for Tammy's epic fancy dress Birthday Party at the end of January. Who are the Mums' alter egos? Find out more as the month progresses!
